Islamorada Tarpon Fishing |
The second group of islands in the Florida Keys are known as the community of Islamorada. We call this "The Sport Fishing Capital Of The World." The famous 'downtown' flats of Islamorada are home to some of the most insane Bonefish, Permit, and Tarpon fishing in the world. This is where many of the flats fishing techniques now used all over the world were first invented. Islamorada is just about an hour and a half south of Miami so it's still considered a reasonable drive to just come down for a day and fish if your staying in the Miami area. |
| The Islamorada backcountry flats are home to many species. These flats are fed from the warm gulfstream currents just a few miles away keeping them clear and full of life. If you choose to depart from Islamorada to access the Florida Everglades you will actually enter the boundary in about 5 minutes by boat. From there you will travel across Florida Bay through a maze of creeks between endless flats. You can expect to see Dolphins, Manatees, Alligators, Crocodiles, and many species of birds. The water also becomes a tannic stained color because of the hundreds of creeks that dump nutrients into Florida Bay. This gives all these species plenty to eat and our fishing out of this world! |
