Fall Fishing 2018 Is On !

Monday October 29, 2018

This week the Florida Keys finally got their much needed cold front.  Yes, it was only a slight drop but that is all we needed to get the fish to start chomping.  The amount of live bait that has entered the keys from the North is a very good sign that the winter bite will be red hot.  Here you can see a recent Mutton Snapper caught on a wreck just few minutes away from our dock in Marathon.  These Snappers put up a great fight on light tackle.

With the slight drop in temperatures we have already been seeing the Spanish Mackerel and Kingfish showing up in the Gulf Of Mexico.  These fish travel in very large schools and can be chummed up which leads to a lot of drag screaming action.  When we do this type of trip usually we end up catching 6-10 different species of fish.  It’s great for all ages and skill levels of anglers.

Here’s a shot of 1st mate Nick making a run of nice eating fish back to the cooler.  On the top is a Porgy which tastes similar to a Hogfish and on the bottom is a Vermillion Snapper which we catch while on our oceanside deep water wrecks in 140-220 feet of water.  We always try to promote catch and release when we can but if you would like to keep some fish for a meal or two while you are in town we have no problem bringing some fish back to the dock and cleaning / bagging them for your party.  There are several restaurants in Marathon that offer “Cook Your Catch.” Our boat is located at The Island Fish Co. Restaurant which will gladly prepare your catch after fishing with us.

One thing we love doing at Angling Adventures is fishing with kids.  We understand teaching future generations is important for so many reasons.  Here you can see 6 year old Dennis smiling next to his very first fish. Yes, it was only a Grunt but let me tell you that he did laps around our boat yelling about how he caught this fish.  If you are interested in taking your children fishing please send us an email so we can come up with a plan that can cater to the specific needs based on age and experience level.
