Catch Of The Day

1. Hogfish, Yellowtail Snapper, and Porgies are some of the best eating fish we have in the Florida Keys. They are plentiful and in season all year long.
2. Mangrove Snapper are probably the most common species targeted as eating fish here in the Florida Keys. They must be a minimum of 10″ in length to keep. We actually try not to keep them unless they are 12″ or larger so you can get more meat from the filets. They are a lot of fun to catch and put up a nice fight on light tackle spinning rods.
3. Speckled Trout are another common species targeted for dinner here in the Florida Keys. They are in season all year long and are the most plentiful during the winter and spring months. They must be between 15″-20″ and are allowed to keep 4 Trout per person per day.
4. Gag Groupers are one of the tastiest fish here in the Florida Keys. They must be larger than 24″ in length. Gag Groupers can be caught year round but must be released during the closed season January 1 – April 30.
5. Cobia are another awesome species to catch here in the Florida Keys. It’s considered a delicacy among locals and can be prepared many different ways. They must be a minimum of 33″ to the fork of the tail. Anglers may keep one per day or 6 per vessel, whichever is less.

7. Here’s another good fighting and great eating species found here in the Florida Keys. The Spanish Mackerel must be larger than 15″ to the fork.
8. Sometimes the fish get so aggressive you can even catch two Mangrove Snappers on a single hook.
9. Fishing out of Marathon is great for Snapper all year long. They eat a wide variety of baits and sometimes artificial lures. Most of the time we catch them on live shrimp, pinfish, and pilchards.
10. During the late summer we even offer Lobster snorkeling trips and spearfishing trips in shallow water. Here you can see a nice mixed bag of Grouper, Hogfish, and Florida Spiny Lobster. All of these fish were caught in less than 10 feet of water near Marathon, FL.

14. Fishing in the Gulf of Mexico is great all winter long. This is when the giant schools of Spanish Mackerel are easy to find which makes for great drag screaming action.
15. While fishing on the ocean side wrecks off Marathon, Florida Mutton Snapper can be caught all year long.
16. During the Fall, Winter, and Spring months Cobia can be found on the oceanside as well as the bayside areas of the Florida Keys
17. Captain Rich’s wife Michelle landed this Mahi Mahi aka Dolphin while offshore fun fishing during the summertime. From March – August Mahi Mahi can be found all over the Florida Keys
18. Logan and his buddy Luke came down to put a hurting on some nice jacks.
19. Yellowjacks are a ton of fun on light tackle spinning rods. We usually throw artificial lures such as Rapala Subwalks at them and they explode out of the water on them.

39. Tarpon fishing in the Florida Keys is a blast during our Spring Tarpon Season. The best time of year is March – May for the big schools of migrating Tarpon coming to the keys to spawn.
40. Amberjacks can be found on just about every wreck in the Florida Keys. They put up a great fight and are mostly caught on live bait.

48. Offshore fishing in the Marathon area is great all year long. During the Summer we can catch Dolphin Mahi Mahi on light tackle spinning rods.
49. This is a recent catch of the day. We ventured offshore during the summertime and found tons of Mahi Mahi and Blackfin Tunas. We brought enough home for several meals and even made fresh sushi right on the dock.
50. This picture was taken on October 5, 2020 after another great day of offshore fishing near Marathon, Florida. The winds were pretty high and the seas were rough but the bite was still on. We caught our limit of 10 Blackfin Tuna and put some nice Mahi Mahi in the box.
51. The Wahoo fishing has been on fire over the last week.
52. The Mahi Mahi fishing has remained strong over the last few weeks. Usually the bite is pretty much over by the end of August but they are still around this year at the end of October.
53. The big Blackfin Tunas have been biting strong all summer long.
54. Tyler Bowman from Charleston, South Carolina came down to do some filming for us. He got to do some fishing as well and landed his first Wahoo off the coast of Marathon, Florida.
