🎣 Summer Fishing in the Florida Keys Has Been On Fire! ☀️🐟
As we cruise through the heart of summer here in the beautiful Florida Keys, we’re excited to share this fishing report from Marathon, Florida — and let’s just say, it’s been one for the books! Whether you’re a seasoned angler chasing your next trophy or a first-timer looking to reel in your very first catch, the waters have been delivering non-stop action for everyone aboard our Florida Keys fishing charters.
🌊 Offshore Action: Mahi Mahi & Tuna Madness
This summer, the offshore fishing in the Florida Keys has been red-hot, especially for Mahi Mahi and Blackfin Tuna. We’ve been finding solid weed lines and floating debris just a few miles offshore, which are prime targets for these pelagic predators. The Mahi Mahi fishing in Florida has been producing from schoolies to larger bulls and cows pushing 20–30 pounds. Their brilliant colors and aggressive strikes make them a fan favorite.
Tuna fishing in the Florida Keys has also been outstanding, especially around the humps and deepwater ledges. These hard-fighting fish have been smashing live bait and vertical jigs, making for epic battles on light tackle.
🐟 Reef & Wreck Fishing: Snapper & Grouper Galore
If you’re into reef fishing in Marathon FL, this summer has been a treat. We’ve had some incredible trips catching:
-
Mutton Snapper – Hard-hitting and great on the table, these guys have been biting well on live pinfish and cut bait in 60–120 feet.
-
Grouper – Solid catches of Black and Red Grouper have been coming from deeper structure. These reef bruisers are a highlight of Snapper and Grouper fishing in the Florida Keys.
-
Mangrove Snapper – They’ve been biting aggressively during their June and July spawn. We’ve been catching them in 20–50 feet of crystal clear water off Marathon, FL, stacked up on the reefs — an awesome target for beginners and experienced anglers alike.
-
Yellowtail Snapper – Classic Florida Keys reef action. Chumming up the water and drifting small pieces of cut bait has made for fast-paced fishing and lots of fillets in the cooler.
🎣 Tackle Talk: Legendary Gear for Legendary Fishing
The best fishing trips start with the best fishing gear in the Florida Keys, and that’s exactly what we bring aboard.
We fish with custom rods built by Randy Towe of Islamorada Fishing Outfitters — a living legend in the fishing rod building world. His rods are built for strength, precision, and top-tier performance whether you’re fishing shallow or offshore.
Our reel setups feature Shimano Saragosa spinning reels (sizes 5000–12,000) — known for durability and smooth drag systems — perfect for everything from reef Snapper to offshore Tuna. For conventional setups, we rely on Shimano Talica reels, ideal for live baiting, jigging, and bottom fishing with serious stopping power.
All setups are matched with 15–50 lb. light tackle, offering the perfect mix of finesse and power. These rigs let you enjoy the fight while still having what it takes to land that dream fish.
Whether you’re new to fishing or a seasoned pro, our crew will guide you through using the gear and help you dial in every bite.
